AFCON: Sierra Leone, The First Challenge In Super Eagles’ AFCON 2023 Qualifiers

Knocked out of the TotalEnergies AFCON 2021 in the round of 16 knockout stage by Tunisia the Super Eagles will begin their journey for an opportunity to win the AFCON with a game against Sierra Leone.

Nigeria last won the AFCON in 2013 under the late Stephen Keshi before finishing third under Gernot Rohr and then a round of 16 finish by interim coach Austin Eguavon before the new appointment.

Despite new head coach Jose Peseiro, though starting his management career with the Eagles with two losses against Mexico and then Ecuador, the Super Eagles camp in Abuja is filled with all invited players as the journey begins to AFCON 2023

Nigeria in Group A, will take on Sierra Leone on 9th June, then São Tomé and Príncipe on Monday, 13th June before facing Guinea-Bissau in the first round of Group A.
